Measurements on a Line Plot

Tonight play this game and try to figure out how to measure inches, quarter inches and half inches.  Practice Measuring.

Then, submit the assignment on Edmodo where you will describe to me how you would measure using these units.

We will do an activity tomorrow in class using line plots.

We officially have our Google Apps Accounts up and running.  Your first task is to send me an email by following the steps below:


This is the website address that you are going to use every time you need to check your email.  Be sure to bookmark it or write it down in an important place.

Password: ELEM#### (same as your IXL password)

3. Explore some of the features of your new account.  You could also read the emails the Gmail team sent you.

4. Write me an email (clang@thecolumbusschool.edu.co) with the following information:

  • One thing you want to learn about Google Apps
  • What is the coolest thing we have done with technology this year?

Solar System Project: Part 2

Steps to Complete Solar System Final Project:

1. View this example below:

2.  Go to http://www.thinglink.com/ and log in.  Password details are on the board.

3.  Click on "My Channel"

4.  Find the photograph of your project.  If you worked with a partner, make sure you open a different image than them.

5.  Click on your picture to open it.  Then scroll over the left hand side with your mouse until you see an oval shape that says edit.  Click on edit.

6.  Rename the image to include your first name and last initial.  (Crystal L.)

7.  Start adding links.  (watch the video below to see how) Your project MUST include:
  • 8 of your own comments
  • 3 your own youtube links - with description
  • 3 links to other websites - with description
  • 3 pictures or photographs
Please make sure you have a PLAN for each item you will use and a REASON for each item.

Grammar February Parts of Speech Challenge

Objective:  I understand how to use the Parts of Speech to make my writing more interesting, descriptive, and organized.

Due:  February 28th

Task: 
1. Watch a video.
2. Answer the questions on the PDF that goes with that video.
3. Repeat for all 8 videos.
4. Bring the handout to school whenever you are done.

I expect you to use these skills in your everyday writing as well!

We will be doing a grammar challenge once a month for the rest of the year.
